MDT-01 Software Download & Usage Instructions
The accompanying software for the MDT-01 Diagnostic Tool can be downloaded from the following link:
To operate the software, first plug the tool to a compatible computer via the included USB cable.
After launching the application, a “Windows protected your PC” popup will show, press “more info” and “Run anyway” to continue.
Select the Makita 18V Module and MDT-01 Interface at the top.
Refresh the serial ports, select the correct serial port for the tool and press “Connect”. If it fails to connect, please try different serial ports until the device successfully connects.
Press “Read battery model” to get battery information.
Press “Read battery data” to get battery data.
Press “Clear errors” to unlock the battery lock status. Please note that this will only work if the battery BMS is able to send the all the required data to the tool, otherwise this option will remain greyed out.
If you are getting errors, make sure to test a known good battery as its likely the BMS being faulty and unable to be read properly as opposed to the tool.
If the tool refuses to work, please make sure that your computer has the correct USB drivers installed, or alternatively CH340 USB drivers to be able to connect to the tool.
